- "How to Toilet Train your Cat"
| Toilet Training a Cat It takes a lot of time and patience to toilet train a cat. But once it has been accomplished, you'll see that it was worth the while. No more stool clearing, bad smells and dirty footprints. Litter Box Trick Domestic cats should already be accustomed to using the litter box, so we'll use it as a lure. Place the litter box on the floor right beside the toilet seat and leave it there for 1 or 2 days. Do not shift the box or let your cat shift it or he'll get used to it. Then gradually increase the height of the litter box by using phonebooks, bricks or any flat-surfaced heavy object. This will be the foundation for the litter box and the cat, so make sure its firm and strong. While gradually increasing the height of the litter box, decrease the amount of litter in the box. Our aim is to get the litter box directly sitting on top of the toilet seat, so keep shifting the litter box closer and closer day by day until it is over the toilet seat. |

Litter Box Replacement Once the cat has utilised the litter box when it's on the toilet seat, it would then be time for a replacement. Remove the litter box and use masking tape to cover the toilet seat. Alternatively, you can use an aluminium bowl or plastic cloth. A point to note is don't let the water in the toilet be visible to the cat yet - he'll freak out. Toilet Trained Cat Cut a hole in the center of the tape around 1 inch in diameter and gradually increase the size. This is progressively done to condition the cat when urinating and defecating on water so he'll get used to the feeling. The hole is cut until the end, and there you have it, a successfully toilet-trained cat. |
