Dry and wet food for cats
The 2 kinds of food sold over the counter for cats would be either the dry or the wet ones. Dry cat foods contain much more starch and carbohydrates then canned food, and that's not healthy for cats as they are carnivores and they are physiologically designed to eat meat. Starch and carbohydrates may cause negative effects to their digestive system. Wet foods on the other hand, contains more protein, which is a good carnivorous diet. Feed your cat both kinds of food, but a bit more of the wet ones so they won't suffer from obesity in the future. That was what Robert Backus, assistant professor and director of the Nestle Purina Endowed Small Animal Nutrition Program, said. Just make sure your cat has a balanced diet and he'll be fine.

Drinking for cats
Cats don't drink a lot, but they sure need to. We rarely see them drinking from their water bowl because when they consume food, they get the water and moisture from there. Nevertheless it is very important for cats to drink fresh plain water to maintain their kidney health and also to keep them alive.

Vitamins, minerals and nutrition for cats
Cats need vitamins to survive too. With a good supplement of vitamins and minerals, your cat will enjoy healthier skin and fur, clearer and stronger eyes, better immune system and proper weight. The water-soluble vitamins and minerals that best for cats are vitamins B and C, niacin, pantothenic acid, folic acid, biotin and choline.

Plants and Grass
Occasionally, you might find your cat sniffing around grass, plants or bushes and munching on their leaves. Cats consume plants not for the nutrients but to help in their digestive process. Bring your cat outdoors where there's greenery once in a while and let him search for the appropriate plant to consume. Note that there are some plants that are normal to us, but poisonous to cats. For instance lilies, daffodils and chrysanthemums can cause vomitting, diarrhoea and convulsions. Learn about the Types of Plants that are good for your cat and those that are poisonous.
